Aki Puppy:

A wonderful representative of this breed needs the same name - euphonious, bright, memorable. A great option is to choose a beautiful Japanese nickname for your pet. Or find an unusual name based on national dishes, the geography of this amazing country.

Little Akita:

Popular nicknames

A common name is not the most suitable option for an Akita.
Firstly, it will not reflect the individuality of the Akita Inu, and secondly, it will create inconvenience during walks and training. After all, if several owners call their pets with the same nickname, the animals will simply get confused. Popular nicknames for male Akitas: Bear, Blaster, Gus, Jake, Dix, Zeus, Cody, Lucky, Luke, Murphy, Oscar, Austin, Raymond, Rocky, Romeo, Simon, Samson, Taco, Harley, Charlie, Skipper.

Female Akita Inu are usually called as follows: Aza, Aida, Dakota, Coco, Katie, Laidi, Lana, Lola, Misty, Penny, Pepper, Roxy, Ruby, Sally, Stella, Hunny.

Many people prefer to call their pet the name that the celebrity’s dog bears: Puppy (Sandra Bullock’s pet), Tequila (Patricia Kaas), Pear (Vladimir Mashkov named the terrier that way), Lola (Hilary Duff’s favorite).

May it always be funny

When choosing a name for a dog, the Japanese like to joke, so that calling their pet always lifts the mood. If the bitch is Hime (princess), and the male is Oji (prince, diplomat), Daitore is the president. It is funny to call a small dog, for example, a Japanese Chin, with the formidable name Samurai or Goto (strongman).

Our people jokingly call the dogs Goulash and Donuts; just for fun, you can go through Japanese gastronomy. Sushi is a well-known fish dish, Wasabi is a spicy sauce. Sake - rice vodka - is suitable for a dog with an explosive temper. But these, of course, are extremes; you can get by with funny words from the Japanese language.

Adaptation and basic care

After purchasing and choosing a name, puppies of this breed must adapt to new living conditions. A new home and, in general, the buying process itself for a baby is a stressful situation. Therefore, at home or in an apartment, it is necessary to immediately create the necessary conditions for the animal that will speed up its adaptation.

We suggest you familiarize yourself with: Nicknames for Bull Terriers

First, your pet should be allowed to walk around the house on its own so that it gets used to the new smells and conditions. During the first two days the baby will cry and whine

Therefore, at this time he needs to be given maximum attention (frequently picked up, etc.)

Here you should follow a simple rule: animals do not sleep on the bed with you. If this rule is violated, then an adult dog cannot be weaned from such a habit.

Akita Inu puppies should receive proper care from the first days. They should have their own place to sleep, eat and play. Also, the baby must be brought up. This is necessary so that he understands where he can go to the toilet. Training from puppyhood allows you to raise a dog that can live in even a small apartment without any problems. Remember that you need to walk your pet twice a day, or even more often.

It is very important to feed the animal correctly. After all, the baby is growing and every month his diet should become richer and larger

Don't forget to give your pet vitamins.

How to choose a beautiful double name for a dog, taking into account its temperament

If the owner wants to give his dog a name that would fully reflect its character, then he should not rush to choose a nickname. It is best to observe your pet for a week to understand whether the puppy loves fun outdoor games or behaves calmly and sedately.

Before giving the puppy a name, you should observe it.

  • Baysey - satellite;
  • Ganken - healthy;

NOTE!

Despite the unusual sound and pronunciation, Japanese names are popular among Akita Inu, emphasizing the origin of these dogs and their exoticism.

You shouldn’t completely give up on seemingly banal nicknames if they exactly match the Akita’s temperament. For a dog who is not particularly active and prefers a quiet pastime and a measured lifestyle, the name Sloth is perfect. A boy who is distinguished by a high degree of activity can be called a fidget, and a cunning dog who gets everything he wants, by any means and tricks, cannot be called anything other than a Swindler.

Playful nicknames for boys like Krosh, Cent or Bucks will always be popular, as well as diminutive names in which the owner puts all his love for the pet: Bunny, Korzhik, Ivashka.

The Akita Inu owner’s passion for certain TV series or films can also form the basis for the name of the pet, which will proudly bear the name of its owner’s favorite hero - Stark, Gatsby, Luke, etc.

The most beautiful and lightest

Beauty is in simplicity. In pursuit of exoticism and pretentiousness, owners forget that a name that is too long will be inconvenient to pronounce or will not take root in the family. It happens that the pet itself does not accept the nickname.

There is a list of win-win beautiful names that can often be heard on the street : Glory, Naida, Bullet, Ksyusha, Vassa, Dulya, Alya, Zadira, Zeta, Bella, Verba, Ponka, Klyaksa, Zloba, Beth, Vaxa, Peddi, Veta, Ezhevika , Jodi, Gadget, Gamma, Marta, Grunya, Nochka, Mila, Europe, Polly, Zoya, Maggie, Pina, Basta, Country, Palma, Catherine, Mirta, Lucy, Heat, Agda, Rat, Betty, Zhanna, Katie.

How to choose the right nickname?

Despite the fact that in the canine world there are certain requirements for nicknames, dog owners are not limited in choosing a name for their pet and can call it whatever they want.

If the breeder has not named the puppies yet, the new owner can come up with an official nickname himself. In this case, the name must begin with a specific letter, corresponding to the number of litters in the nursery.

A dog's official name may consist of one, two, or more separate names. Also, it almost always includes a factory prefix. The exception is if the puppy is purchased not from a nursery, but from a private breeder. In this case, the factory prefix is not required.

An official nickname, consisting of two or more names, may simply be a meaningless set of beautiful-sounding words, or it may have a special meaning.

For example, the name "Infanta Rachel Iris" is just a collection of three separate words. And the nicknames “Magnificent Diamond” or “I Am Charm Myself” have a certain meaning.

Even if the puppy has already received an official nickname and it has been recorded in the metric, the owner can give him any other pet name.

True, it will no longer be recorded in tribal documents. But a pet nickname can start with any letter and be absolutely anything. The main thing is that the dog’s owner, as well as his family members, like it and that the pet responds to it with joy.

So, what should the pet name be?

  • Short enough. Too long names consisting of more than three syllables are unsuccessful.
  • Calling. It should contain ringing consonants or growling sounds that dogs like so much.
  • Not reminiscent of a command. For example, the nicknames Fars or Siddi cannot be considered successful precisely for this reason.
  • Easy to pronounce. The nickname should be easily pronounced correctly by all family members, including children.

If you want your pet to have a unique name, you can try to make different combinations of the syllables of the puppy’s parents’ nicknames, or do the same with the first letters of the names of family members.

Influence on the dog's character

The biggest influence on a pet's character is its breed. Certain traits are passed on through many generations of dogs. But despite this, the name also contributes to a certain behavior of the Akita Inu. It has the greatest impact on temperament, because the pet hears its name most often. Combinations of sounds that are pronounced softly help create a soft, pliable character. But the sharp and sonorous combination is the opposite.

Experienced dog breeders advise trying to avoid the sound “r” in the name of the animal, because it provokes aggressive behavior.

Many believe that the meaning of the name influences not only the character and behavior of the Akita Inu, but also its fate in general. Therefore, it is better not to limit yourself to the beautiful pronunciation of the nickname, but also to clarify what it means.

Japanese names for girl dogs with meaning

The Japanese language also has wonderful names for female dogs. Joyful and energetic favorites can be called: Mai (brightness), Kyoko (happy), Hana (blooming), Nikko (bright sun), Fuku (happiness). Names that have an “edible” meaning sound great. Popular among them are: Ichigo (strawberry), Momo (peach) and Satu (sweet).

A suitable name for a small breed dog is Chibi, which translates as “baby”

There are many names for graceful female dogs that are somehow related to plants. For example, Akina (spring flower), Miki (flower stem), Michiyo (dainty flower), Yuriko (lily child), Ran (water lily), Fuji (wisteria) and Oji (lily tree)

It is important to take into account the characteristics of the dog. The artistic and singing pet can be called Koto, which translates as “harp.”

If you got a hunting dog, then name it Mori (forest) or Orino (meadow). In addition, the following Japanese names are suitable for a girl dog:

  • Aneko - older sister;
  • Katana - Japanese sword;
  • Kava is a source of energy;
  • Michiko is a beautiful child;
  • Nami - wave;
  • Nariko is an affectionate little girl;
  • Hoshi is stellar.

If previously Japanese nicknames were used exclusively for certain species, today original names can be chosen for pets of any breed. Among the wide variety of Japanese pet names, there are options not only for small but also for large dogs.

Japanese nicknames sound very unusual, beautiful and melodic. Therefore, most happy dog owners choose such exotic options, abandoning the traditional Balls and Tuzik. Another advantage of Japanese nicknames is that they are sonorous and short. Thanks to this, pets and owners themselves easily remember the chosen name.

What should you not call your pet?

Despite the seemingly limitless options for names for Akita Inu dogs, there are still some that should be avoided.

IMPORTANT!

You should not call the dog a name that is consonant with the commands - this will constantly confuse the dog and not make it clear what exactly is required of it.

You should not use Russian names - it is unethical and attracts the attention of passers-by rather than the dog.

It is also better to abandon rude and shocking nicknames like Baron or Boar, which cause unpleasant associations for most, and pompous names such as Star Lord or Shining Star.

Such nicknames as Rex, Mukhtar or Polkan are absolutely not suitable for Akita Inu. These are good options for German Shepherds, but not for the exotic aristocratic Akita Inu.
