Such a harsh pet needs a special nickname - both kind, beautiful, and fierce.

“Wolf” names are also a godsend for the antipodes of the “grays”, wolfhounds. Foreign-language or famous nicknames suit them well.

What not to call a dog

There are a number of rules according to which you should not name your pet. Before choosing a name for your dog, you need to know some nuances:

  • you should not take ambiguous nicknames that may be negatively perceived by strangers, for which the owner may be ashamed;
  • You should not give a new friend the name of an animal or person who was dear to the owner, but, unfortunately, has already left this world. Such a nickname will always remind the breeder of its previous bearer, evoking memories. The new pet will not be perceived as a full-fledged member of the family, but will become a replacement for the old one. The relationship with him will not be as trusting as it could be;
  • A purebred, purebred, proud husky dog should not be called by a too simple name that came from the Soviet past. The nicknames Sharik, Tuzik, Bobik, Zhulka, Zhuchka, etc. will not suit such handsome men;
  • You cannot change nicknames, because the dog will not understand what to respond to. It is also important to give the nickname on time.

Important! You should not choose a nickname until the animal appears in the family. It may not be consistent with the pet's appearance, character or behavior.

Useful tips for choosing a nickname

There is an opinion that a dog's name is important to such an extent that it can take part in shaping the character of a pet. Of course, these are just thoughts, but perhaps there is a grain of truth in this.

Husky dog deserves a spectacular nickname

There are a number of recommendations that an owner should follow when choosing a dog name for a husky:

  • It’s better if the nickname is short, because the dog will learn this faster. One or two syllables is the best option. If the owner wants the pet’s name to be long and ornate, he needs to choose one that has an abbreviated version so that the dog responds to it;
  • The nickname should sound clear and sharp, it is desirable that it contains the sounds “k”, “s”, “ch”, “r”. Of the vowels, “o” and the long “a” are welcomed;
  • the nickname should not overlap with the commands or be consonant with them, since the husky in this case may not follow instructions;
  • It is advisable to choose a decent name, because you will have to call your pet not only within the family circle, but also in public places. At the veterinarian's appointment, this name will be written down on the registration sheet, and it will also appear on the vaccination passport. If this doesn’t stop you, it’s worth remembering that the dog will be called that in 10 and 15 years, and it will be heard and pronounced by small children;
  • The appearance, behavior and character of a husky can also influence when choosing a name.

What can you do to ensure that the puppy quickly gets used to the chosen name?

It is very important at first to address your pet by name exclusively for pleasant reasons. Then the dog will have positive associations with its own name, it will quickly get used to it and, of course, will immediately respond to being called by its nickname. Some dog owners, when they scold their pet for something, address it by name. This cannot be done. The animal may develop the feeling that its own name is a direct threat.

If you want the nickname of your full-fledged four-legged family member to be pleasant and interesting, and at the same time completely liked by the pet itself, you should address him by name exclusively in a positive mood and for pleasant reasons. Never allow others to shout at an animal, much less use its name. This attitude will cause constant discomfort and even stress every time someone addresses the animal by name.

As already mentioned, there are a myriad of nicknames and names for dogs for boys and girls. But no one can give you advice on choosing a specific name. Listen to our recommendations, to your own feelings, study the character and preferences of the animal, pay careful attention to its appearance - all this will significantly simplify the process of choosing a suitable nickname for your four-legged friend.

How to teach a puppy to respond to its name

To make your dog remember the name faster, you need to give him treats for following a command or invite him to an already filled plate. Then you can say: “Well done, Bertha, eat!” Create an association: the sound of a nickname – food intake, encouragement.

Whatever name you choose for your pet, remember that it is important to consider his reaction. It’s better to choose several options and see which name the dog responds to with great enthusiasm.

As soon as a four-legged pet appears in a person’s life, the question immediately arises of what to name the animal. After all, this is for his entire life, which can in some cases reach two decades. The nickname is what the animal hears most often and perceives best. Husky dogs are incredibly smart creatures; when choosing a nickname for dogs in general, for a husky in particular, it is important that it fully matches the external appearance and inner world of the pet, and also fits harmoniously into the life of the family in which it will live.

Reproduction and raising offspring

The mating season for wolves lasts from the beginning of winter to mid-spring, depending on the habitat. Wolves live in families and are monogamous. Wolf couples break up only when their partner dies.

Pregnancy lasts about two months, after which 3 to 13 wolf cubs are born. Puppies develop vision after 2 weeks. At first, the wolf cubs feed on the female's milk, then switch to meat.

The entire flock is involved in feeding the offspring. Although wolves are extremely caring parents, more than half of wolf cubs die in the first year of life.

Features of wolf nutrition

As predators, wolves obtain food by actively searching for and chasing prey.
The basis of their diet is ungulates: reindeer in the tundra; elk, deer, roe deer, wild boar in the forests; antelope in the steppe and desert. The predator can also attack domestic animals (sheep, cows, horses), and even dogs. Small prey can also become victims of a wolf: these are hares, gophers, and mouse-like rodents. In the summer, wolves feast on clutches of eggs, chicks sitting in nests, grouse feeding on the ground, waterfowl and other birds, and domestic geese. A fox, raccoon dog, and corsac dog can also become prey for a wolf, and a hungry predator can even attack a sleeping bear. — Advertising —

The wolf may return to the uneaten remains of the prey. He is an omnivore. In times of famine, it eats the corpses of livestock, seal carcasses and other sea inhabitants washed ashore. During food shortages, wolves feed on reptiles, frogs and large insects (beetles, locusts). In the south, they also include food of plant origin (berries, fruits, mushrooms) in their diet.

It is important for the wolf to have plenty of drinking water.
