    Description of the breed

The Chow Chow is a dog that first appeared in China. The age of the breed exceeds 2000 years, during which it has gone a long way from guard to imperial. These dogs were valued not only for their majestic appearance, but also for their high intelligence, calmness, and devotion.

In fact, panda dogs are not a separate breed, but just colored chow chows

“Shaggy lion” is what the Chinese called them, and this name fully corresponds to the appearance of the animals. They have long, fluffy fur, the color of which can be red, beige and even black. Surprise is often caused by the tongue being dark blue, close to black. This is one of the features inherent in dogs.

Chow chows are medium-sized animals. The height of males can reach 56 cm, while for females the limit is 51 cm. The weight of a pet ranges from 20 to 30 kg, it depends on gender and physiological characteristics.

    Story

What breed was the mask used in the movie?
dog breed from the “mask”: name and description. photo of the dog breed from the movie “The Mask” The origin of the name is very vague. There is a version in which the mysterious phrase is translated as “edible”, which is not a completely plausible version. According to the marine version, the name is associated with a hold for transporting goods (it would seem, what do dogs have to do with it?).

According to a more realistic version, the word came from the ancient Chinese dog “Chu”. English merchants visiting China called all Chinese people with a word that in transcription also sounds like “Chu”

So today we can only guess about the origin of the name, but is it really that important?

The existence of the breed in the one hundred and fifty years BC is confirmed by archaeological finds. In addition to the creativity of the ancient Chinese, who are inspired by the charm of our heroes, there is another confirmation of the age of the species - this is DNA analysis.

The first genealogical books of Chow Chow can be found in Tibetan monasteries. It was there that representatives of the breed were bred, and in order to somehow freshen the blood they exchanged puppies between monasteries.

All records have survived to this day. From them we imagine how breeding and preservation of purebreds took place.

The first pair was brought to Europe by Marco Polo. A traveler who lived for a long time in Tibet managed to fall in love with unusual creatures and did not want to part with them upon returning to his homeland. But at that period of history, fame did not come to our heroes. The next wave of interest in Chinese dogs appeared thanks to Gilbert White. He described in his books on natural history various unseen things, including dogs with a blue tongue. English breeders began experiments to improve the breed. Since then, the world gradually began to learn about amazing creatures from distant China.

    How did this miracle appear?

How to choose a puppy for exhibitions and breeding?

Animals have been around for over 2000 years. It is believed that they originally accompanied the Mongol nomads as guards and hunting assistants. It was thanks to them that these animals appeared in China, where they immediately became favorites of the imperial family. Puppies and adults of this breed were especially common in Buddhist temples, where they were cared for by Tibetan monks.

This is interesting! In Europe, people learned about chow chow only in the 19th century. It is believed that it was the British who made this breed the way it is known today.

As for the chow panda, it appeared much later thanks to the efforts of an enterprising pet store owner from China, Hsin Chen. To attract customers and make more profit, he needed to offer them something unusual, available only from him. Then he simply began to paint his animals and show them to his clients as a miracle of nature. Admired by this appearance, the Chinese not only took apart the amazing animals, but also paid many times more for them.

    These good-natured teddy bears

The size of an adult panda is quite impressive. Males are slightly larger than females. Their weight reaches 85-125 kg, while females weigh 70-100 kg. The panda's body length is 1.5-1.8 m.

The panda, unlike other bears, has a fairly long tail. Its length reaches 12 cm. The whole body is covered with thick and soft fur. On a light, almost white background, there are dark areas: around the eyes in the form of “glasses”, on the hind and front legs, on the shoulders and on the ears. The tip of the tail is also black.

    Black ears, glasses and paws

Despite its good-natured “plush” appearance, the panda’s paws are armed with sharp claws, and like all bears, the giant panda, in cases of attack, can seriously injure a person.

    Big tail

A dog that looks like a panda - what kind of breed is it?

It's actually just a chow chow with a dyed coat that makes it look like a teddy bear. The panda dog is more popular in its homeland of China, but the fashion for it is spreading to other countries. Today you can see such unusual pets from Russian owners.

Collar for dogs and puppies: types, how to choose

The dog's appearance can be easily misleading as it does resemble a teddy bear. Unfortunately, scammers often take advantage of this similarity and naivety of people. There is a widely known case when in the Sochi Zoo a dog similar to a panda was passed off as a real exotic animal. The owners offered visitors to take pictures with the painted dog for a certain amount.

Note! Animal painting services can be provided in animal salons in large cities of Russia. Experts say that the paint used for the procedure is safe for pets.

    Bluish gray

    Papillon dog breed

Gray Chow Chows look very unusual, ghostly, like a creature shrouded in fog. The effect of a creature covered with powder or flour is created. The color combination is so complex not because it includes a palette from soft blue to wet asphalt.

In fact, it is really gray, but the tips of the fur give off a blue color. The uniqueness of this color also lies in the fact that the nose, lips, palate, gums and tongue are almost the same color as the body. There are no pink veins, no dark tip of the nose. Even the eyes will be dark gray. A unique phenomenon in nature and it looks amazing. Puppies are born with a black coat, which is distinguished by silvery tints.

    Pet care

Malamute and husky: differences, what is the difference, who to choose

Despite popular belief, a pet's fur will not constantly cause discomfort to the owner. The only period when it can create a problem is during the shedding season, but even in this case there will not be much hair in the house, because most of the dead undercoat does not come off the dog. It must be removed by combing.

The panda dog's coat requires weekly brushing, especially during the shedding season.

However, you need to take care of your dog's fur regularly. It is enough to brush your pet once a week, and wash it only twice a year, unless it participates in exhibitions. Over time, the fur will grow back and, to give it a neat appearance, many owners prefer to give their pets a haircut. This is especially useful in the summer when it is hot.

Important! Panda chow chows have deep-set eyes, which often causes problems. To keep your dog healthy, it is important to carry out regular hygiene procedures. It is necessary to wash the eyes, as well as the ears, and trim overgrown claws.

    Content

As reviews from owners have shown, keeping this breed at home primarily involves caring for their plush fur.
Regular brushing is a must. The white fur of dogs gets dirty quickly; you can bathe them once every two weeks or even more often, but only with dog shampoo, and then carefully dry them with a hairdryer. If you don’t want to personally groom your pet, you can use the services of special hairdressing salons for dogs, where they will select many options for your pet’s new look.

By nature, Bichons are small, restless naughty creatures; they are very bored in the apartment and are always looking for something to chew on. Try to put all small items in an area inaccessible to your pet. According to reviews from owners, a special spray with a repellent odor is very effective.

To calm down a hyperactive pet, buy him a lot of different dog toys, for example, rubber balls.

The Bichon Frize should have its own place to sleep in the house. If you don’t want to let him into the master’s bed, then assign him his own place on a raised platform - these dogs are very attentive and love to keep an eye on everything that’s happening in the house. The material for bedding must be clean, soft and non-absorbent of odors. Mandatory care for the animal’s personal space is to constantly protect it from drafts and direct sunlight.

All breeds of small domestic dogs can use a litter box for toileting at home, so immediately determine its place in the house.

    Walks, training, training

Due to their enormous activity, Bichon Frize dogs love walks in the fresh air. When going up and down the stairs to the play areas, it is better to take your four-legged friend in your arms.

A flat, short lawn away from cars is best suited for games and training. There you can safely leave the ball for your pet or teach it a few simple commands. On the Internet you can find many videos of dogs playing happily.

The Bichon dog breed is a little obstinate, but quite smart. According to the owners' reviews, it will not be difficult to teach them such simple commands as: “Fu”, “Come to me” and “Place”. The most important thing in training is persistence and patience. The baby Bichon may begin to show his character and at first refuse to do anything, but training will definitely give results.

Sorry, there are no surveys available at this time.

The meal is served: how to create a menu

Caring for a dog is also about choosing the right food. The Bichon's white fur reacts very strongly to dyes that may be included in the food, so you need to carefully choose products for your pet. Special food for this breed has the advantage of being very convenient to use in caring for your dog.

If you decide to choose what to feed your pet yourself, then take into account some dietary features. Food for the Bichon Frize must be easily digestible. It is preferable to feed rice and buckwheat porridge. Lean meat and offal must first be doused with boiling water. Poultry should be excluded from the diet - because of it, Friese often develops problems with fur and allergies. These dogs love vegetables and fruits, but carrots and pumpkins can turn their coat an undesirable shade.

Do not allow guests to feed the dog from the table. With proper nutrition and care, a dog's lifespan can be up to 20 years!

    Chow Chow Panda Haircut

Every year, a dog like a panda attracts more and more attention and becomes the dream of pet lovers. However, as noted above, the only way to achieve such a miracle is to transform the dog through your own efforts.

As the demand for dogs stylized as a cute black and white bear is growing, today grooming and coloring services can be found in pet salons. Unfortunately, most of them are concentrated primarily in large cities. However, it is still not recommended to take risks and paint a chow chow like a panda yourself, as this can be dangerous to the pet’s health. A specialist will be able to perform this procedure so that it does not cause any harm.

Important! To maintain the look, coloring must be repeated every 6 weeks. The animal's haircut is carried out as the fur grows.

    Black

It would seem, what variety can meet us on a black fur coat? And this is where we will meet the silver tint. Some representatives have silvery tints in the lower part of the body against the background of black wool. The animal appears to be wearing silver pants.

We will learn about the shade called “hot chocolate” here. The fact is that under the influence of sunlight, hair tends to fade and become covered with unnatural rust. This red effect on a black background really does look like chocolate, but it is acquired and not natural. There is no such congenital coat shade.

    Character and features

By nature, Chow Chows are quiet, calm, loyal dogs. At the same time, nothing prevents them from being cheerful and having fun with their owner. But the Chao Panda dog has an independent character, so only an experienced owner who can seriously engage in raising and training the animal can afford such a pet.

Can you keep a dog in an apartment?

The breed has good watchdog abilities. In this regard, strangers may be barked at and not received very friendly. At the same time, the pet will be faithful to its owners, but provided that it is treated well - it will not tolerate aggression and cruelty in its direction.

In general, chow chows love to spend time with their owner and play with him outside. These are very active dogs that require some physical activity.

Chow Chows are excellent companions that are suitable for apartment living. By choosing such a dog, a person gets a devoted friend and a good guard.

    Red

The brightness of the hue can be so intense that it can easily be classified as red. This is the most common type of the five existing ones.

Shades always vary in degree of saturation. In some cases there is actually a red dog standing in front of us, in others we see delicate peach fur. The nose remains dark. The lips are also outlined in black, and the tongue is traditionally blue. The eyes will most often be brown. A newly born puppy that is about to join the ranks of red specimens usually has a brown coat and a dark mask on its face. The mask disappears when the puppy reaches adulthood.

Today, you can increasingly hear about a new breed of chow panda. From this article we will find out what kind of breed this is.

In the rest of the world

The Pandog fashion trend has spread to other countries around the world. It seems like everyone wants to buy these bears because of how cute they are and the novelty of having a dog that looks like an adorable panda!

The resemblance to pandas is so uncanny that the Circus Orpheus in Italy was actually closed after complaints that their audiences were being misled.. Instead of using real pandas, the circus used pandas!

Researchers discovered that pandas were simply dogs with colored fur. After the publication, the circus received complaints from animal welfare organizations. After a thorough investigation, they discovered that the circus was purchasing panda dogs from Hungary. Researchers also found that dyeing their hair did not harm dogs...

The animal welfare community finally ruled out any complaints against the circus, since the only damage the circus caused to the dog was caused by exposure to bright lights.

However, even though the chemicals people use to dye pandas' fur are not harmful, the animal welfare community remains vigilant. There have been several complaints about cosmetic changes in dogs...

    Brown

Another name, Tsimt. Perhaps this variety has the widest palette. Here you will find coffee shades, a light beige version of a fur coat, and the purest cinnamon. Some adults have a mask of light and dark hair on their face. This combination produces a gray hair effect.

Representatives of cinquefoil are often confused with red ones, and in the early stages with blue ones.

When a puppy is just born, his fur coat has a silvery tint, but it changes towards cinnamon already in the first few weeks of life. Only an experienced breeder can correctly determine the color. Never hesitate to seek professional advice.

    Newfoundland

A gentle giant, the Newfoundland is a brave and intelligent working dog. This is primarily a family companion, and will also become a partner for a traveler or tourist.

Huge paws, fluffy fur, round dark eyes, plump cheeks - a Newfoundland puppy can pass for a black bear. Brown and black and white Newfoundlands are also cute. The coat requires constant care; the dog must be bathed 2-4 times a month with special products and combed 3-4 times a week with a stiff-bristled brush. The Newfoundland's haircut should not be radical; its thick coat protects it from cold in winter and from heat in summer.
