Review of “Perfect Fit” cat food lines, advantages and disadvantages

The happiness of any owner is a healthy cat full of vital energy. Numerous manufacturers of ready-made food are fighting for the right to fill your pet's bowl with their product. It's difficult not to get lost in the variety of menus and choose the best value for money. Meet the popular cat food - Perfect Fit.

Composition "Perfect Fit"

The food fully corresponds to the price group of “middle peasants”. It is far from premium class, but the diet is quite complete and balanced. However, all important components are approaching the acceptable minimum values. Includes:

  • poultry meal (20% chicken);
  • corn and other cereals;
  • vegetable protein;
  • good quality offal;
  • vegetable oil
  • animal fat;
  • dried beets;
  • minimum of flavorings and flavoring additives;
  • vitamin and mineral supplements;
  • yeast.

Let's look at the beneficial composition of Perfect Fit food for cats using the example of a diet for adults.

Reviews from veterinarians

My opinion, as a veterinarian, is that you should not buy cheap food for your pet. Many people contact me who bring their pets with various diseases of the liver, kidneys and stomach. All these diseases are caused precisely by the fact that cats are fed inexpensive dry food.

Valentina, 3 years experience

I have been working as a veterinarian for 10 years. In principle, I think that Perfect Fit food is not the worst that is presented on our market. The quality matches the price. But there are also economy-class feeds that cause much more harm to animals.

Mikhail, 10 years experience

It is best to feed cats natural foods. Cottage cheese, chicken, fish, cereals will help balance the diet of your animals. If you still want to use store-bought food, then give it to your pets not all the time. You can also use Perfect Fit, but read the information about other foods, preferably premium ones.

Svetlana, 7 years experience

Before you buy Perfect Fit food for your pet, read all the reviews about it, but not on the official website. Also be sure to consult your veterinarian. Research other cat foods on the market. You should have an alternative to purchase other products if your pet does not like Perfect Fit.

Types of feed

Perfect Fit ready-made food is available in two types:

  1. Dry – in the form of granules.
  2. Wet - pieces in a jelly-like mass. For convenience, it is packaged in foil bags (pouches).

Dry granules are higher in calories and nutritional value. When using it, your pet should always have clean water in a bowl. A wet diet does not cause the same need for fluid.

There is no fundamental difference between the two types of product. But veterinarians agree that they should not be combined. However, breeders successfully alternate diets.

There is a misconception that dry food causes urolithiasis. But this applies only to a quality product. In this regard, fish causes more damage to the body if fed in unlimited quantities. It contains a lot of phosphorus and magnesium, which affects the formation of stones.

Is it worth purchasing?

Most domestic cats, incl. purebred, does not refuse natural food. You can easily accustom a pet to it, but not everyone is ready to study the habits and preferences of a pet for a long time. In addition, advertisements that beautifully describe the benefits of canned food also have an influence.

Each pet owner must decide for himself whether it is worth spending money on Perfect products or on natural fish, meat, and chicken.

The manufacturer uses dehydrated poultry meat and offal, the origin of which is unknown, so the quality of the protein is difficult to determine. The flavoring component in the diet is hydrolyzed animal origin, but the manufacturer also does not say what raw materials it is obtained from. Perhaps the animal will immediately refuse the herbal composition of Perfect Fit, and then it will be necessary to select a premium food that contains meat ingredients, and not salt, corn, and beets that are dangerous to the health of the animals.

Feed line

The Perfect Fit brand offers 8 lines of finished product:

  1. Junior – a series for kittens and teenagers up to six months. A young body requires an increased dose of vitamins and mineral supplements for intensive development. The diet contains an increased dose of vitamin C, E and some microelements for brain and vision development. The size of the granules has been reduced to make it easier for small teeth and delicate gums. Also available wet in pouches.
  2. Active – for active pets. An increased dose of protein, vitamins A and B helps keep muscles toned and in physical shape.
  3. Indoor – suitable for couch potatoes or those whose owners do not let them go outside. The diet will prevent the development of obesity and maintain proper metabolism. The composition contains an extract of the evergreen Yucca, which protects against the bad smell of feces. Fiber helps cleanse the esophagus of hair.
  4. Sensitive – for cats with allergies and gastrointestinal problems. Contains natural plant ingredients, excludes soy protein and wheat waste. Recommended for diet for liver and kidney diseases. The wet diet contains prebiotics to support the natural intestinal microflora.
  5. Adult – for adult cats. A balanced combination of nutrients, vitamins, minerals, fatty acids have a positive effect on the condition of the animal’s skin, coat and body as a whole.
  6. Senior – will be needed for elderly individuals over 7 years old. Taurine, which is part of the menu, supports cardiac activity. Omega-3 acids and glucosamine are responsible for joint health.
  7. Hair & Beauty – designed for furry pets. Soy is excluded, the volume of meat products, vitamin A and taurine is increased. Added chicory and cellulose. The coat becomes shiny and silky.
  8. Sterile – recommended for sterilized and neutered cats. The content of iron and B vitamins keeps the body active. Prebiotics will take care of intestinal function, and the nutrient profile will maintain weight balance.

general information

Perfect Fit ready-made food for domestic cats is created by the American company Mars. The manufacturer produces several lines in Russia, Hungary and Germany. Among them there is both dry and wet food.

The brand's products are popular among owners of furry and not so four-legged animals, as they contain healthy ingredients. The cost of food is considered not very high compared to premium products, only slightly falling short of its quality.

Purina Pro Plan Sterilized vs Purina One vs Perfect Fit: what to feed your cat? Updated after 3 years.

Each of my cats is even more wrong than the previous one. Busik ate everything. Now it’s even difficult to imagine how this could have been, but it was so. He ate everything! Horns, cutlets, soup, fried cucumbers, raw mushrooms. He lived a happy 12 years and died from the teeth of a hound dog, which apparently mistook him for a rabbit. Then there was Shustik, who made kefir from milk and ate kitikat mixed with regular food. And now we have Kex, who eats only dry food and drinks only water. Have you ever seen a cat who would run from the stew and tear from his hands when presented with a cup of milk? Here, this is our cat.

Whether it’s right or wrong to feed a cat only dry food, I have nowhere to go. Sometimes he deigns to eat a few pieces of raw meat, but his main diet is pellets of food. Therefore, I had to choose so that the cat would still be healthy and cheerful, besides, he is neutered, you can’t feed him anything...

Based on reviews on the Internet, my choice fell on Purina Pro Plan. And you know, I was right.

My cat looks great. The coat is smooth and silky, the hairs fall out, understandably, but they don’t stick out like in previous cats. For the most part, he walks around like neat little poops, nothing sticks to the tray, there is no special smell (it wouldn’t work without it anyway :))) The cat’s mouth also doesn’t have any odor, he loves to lick himself, I could immediately feel it. In general, he eats Purina Pro Plan with great desire, so I feed him according to the weight chart, otherwise he will become fat in no time.

Even compared to the budget Kitikat, the smell of Purina Pro Plan is completely different! Now I feel what kind of chemistry this Kitikat is actually packed with!

This food has several flavors, you can always change it so it doesn’t get boring. It has small pellets, and the cat has no difficulty in chewing them. For example, Perfect Fit has large triangular pellets and seems to be a bit hard. But cats gnaw them with their front teeth, the load is considerable. In the photo, the Perfect Fit food is triangular in shape compared to Purina Pro Plan: you can see for yourself how much larger the triangles are. And my cat is reluctant to eat this food, I won’t buy it again, I took it for testing.

Purina One food also consists of small triangles, my cat eats them only a little less willingly than Purina Pro Plan, but the problem with Purina One is in one single taste for sterilized cats: with salmon. That's all. No choice. Constantly feeding the same flavor will cause the cat to get bored.

There is only one drawback to Purina Pro Plan for me: the price! A three-kilogram package here costs 1,200 kopecks. True, it lasts for almost 2 months. I didn’t specifically calculate it by day, but it felt like it would last for a long time.

In general, I don’t want to save money on a cat. He brings me so many joyful moments, why don’t I pay for this unique joy with his favorite food.

Three years have passed. The price of food has risen to 2100 per package weighing three kilos. The cat has grown fat, but still willingly eats this food. Nothing has changed - the poops are still tight, the fur is shiny. looks well-groomed. The main thing is that there is always plenty of water in the bowl nearby - animals drink a lot after dry food. I calculated that the package is enough for about 1 month 22 days. Depending on the dose. When the dose is reduced slightly, the period is extended. This is calculated at the daily rate.

I will highlight one more drawback - but this is already a drawback of a cat. With little mobility, he became very fat. For us, of course, the fatter the cat, the cuter it is. But it's better to stay slim.))

Cat lovers try to provide good care for their pets. It's not easy at all. You need to choose healthy food, good animal care products, and get timely vaccinations. You should always consult your veterinarian about what is best for your kitten. Recently, to feed cats and cats, owners have been buying Perfect Fit products, which are produced by. You need to carefully study what kind of product it is, find out what reviews veterinarians and consumers have about this food.

Plant based protein sources

The food contains 5 different types of cereals (corn, corn gluten, corn flour, rice and rice protein) and one type of legume (soy flour). Corn and corn gluten are among the top five ingredients, and since they are all sources of vegetable protein and carbohydrates, the content of the latter in the food is very high.

Corn gluten (#5), or corn protein, is not a healthy ingredient in a cat's diet: it often causes allergies and food intolerances in animals.

Essentially, all three products - cornmeal, corn and corn gluten - are the same thing. We are talking about the so-called “split” of ingredients - adding several different protein and/or carbohydrate ingredients (most often plant-based) from the same source to the feed.

In fact, their total content may exceed the proportion of animal protein source products in the feed. So, if you combine corn meal, corn and corn gluten - dehydrated poultry protein and dehydrated animal protein are likely to be in the minority compared to the volume of corn and its derivatives.

This is only an assumption, however, its likelihood makes us think about the quality of this diet. In addition, the technique of “split” ingredients is also used in relation to rice and rice protein. Note that grains are not included in the natural diet of carnivores, and therefore in large quantities, and especially as the basis of food, are not recommended for them.

Soy flour is a low-quality vegetable protein filler that is poorly digestible by cats and has low biological value for their body.
