When making food for dogs, the Czech company uses exclusively natural ingredients (but, as analysis of the composition shows, they cannot always be called high-quality), avoids GMOs and the use of soy.

The disadvantages of the diet definitely include a large amount of grain in the top five, the presence of corn and wheat - perhaps the most allergenic and undesirable grains. The food contains ingredients that are listed vaguely (this includes flavorings and herbal extract).
Serious shortcomings were identified in the translations of ingredients into Russian, as well as confusion in their location on the list.
The advantages include the presence of 40% chicken, the addition of useful substances (for the joints and functioning of the digestive system of dogs) and organic (more digestible) compounds of some minerals.
Unfortunately, due to the number of points scored, the overall rating and Brit Premium Adult Large Breed Chicken rating is not high enough.
What is included in Brit dog food?
At first glance, it may seem that the diet contains about 42% meat flour, which is an excellent indicator for food in this price category. But the subtleties of the translation show that Russian suppliers are trying to hide the truth. In the original, meat is written in the list of ingredients as “chicken”, “lamb” or “beef”. This indicates that not pure fillet is used, but also residues from production: skin, bones, veins and fatty tissue.
The same applies to other types of dog food, which indicates the manufacturer’s dishonesty. Otherwise, the composition - both for puppies and adults or even sterilized dogs - is similar. In it you will find:
- Rice.
- Animal fat.
- Yeast.
- Natural herbal extracts.
- Flavors.
- Potato.
- Dry apples.
- Wheat.
- Corn.
Concentrated vitamins and minerals are added to the food, and there are unusual nutritional components such as hydrolyzed crustacean shells.
Complete chaos
Beyond the basics of the food, we see confusion in the order of ingredients - the Russian label is very different from the English one. Salmon oil is only in 9th place in it, although in the English list it is in sixth place. In addition, in accordance with the English composition, brewer's yeast should occupy seventh place instead of sixth, and dried apples should move from seventh to ninth.
The “minerals” component is also completely omitted in Russian (in the English list of ingredients it is listed as number 10). It is not clear how this confusion arose, but we have rearranged all of these components in the order in which they appear on the English version of the label.
Advantages and disadvantages of this diet
Reviews from customers about the quality of Brit are contradictory, since the components may not be tolerated by animals. But mostly people say that the food completely pays for its low price. But in order to make the right decision even before purchasing dog food from the Czech Republic, you need to take into account both the pros and the few cons of the Brit series.

That is why Brit has a special feeding table (it is on the food package), which takes into account the age, breed and individual characteristics of the animal. For puppies and teenage dogs up to one year old, the daily food intake of Puppy and Junior types is 50-336 grams. The requirements for how much food to give to adult dogs are not much different. 13-110 grams are for small breed dogs, 110-350 grams for medium-sized dogs, the feeding rate for large breeds is 223-358 grams, and 335-607 grams for giant breeds. Sick animals or dogs that are underweight can be given a little more food.

A pleasant surprise
The first ingredient in the composition is translated into Russian as “lamb meat flour,” although in fact it is Lamb (lamb) - a very high-quality source of animal protein. It is strange that such a serious mistake was made in the translation of the Brit Premium Dog Lamb & Rice label: in the eyes of buyers, the ingredient turned from raw meat into a dried and floured product, the rating of which is significantly lower.
Usually, when revealing the pros and cons of ready-made food, we notice the exact opposite trend. In this case, we were both surprised and pleased at the same time. There is 31% raw lamb in this food, and this is a good indicator.

Which food is better: Proplan or Brit? This question is quite easy to answer: the nuances of their composition are the same, so you can choose the one that is cheaper. Brit's price is usually higher, but due to delivery to a specific region from another country, the cost may vary.
Can we say that Brit is a good food or not? To do this, you need to study a full review of it. In general terms, Brit enjoys a good reputation among breeders and a satisfactory reputation among veterinarians. Most of all, they recommend grain-free food for dogs with allergies, as well as regular diets for small dogs in the spirit of Yorkies and medium-sized animals. How to transition a dog to a new food
The transition to Brit Premium dog and puppy food should be gradual.
To prevent a new product from causing negative consequences, start the transition with a small portion, 5-10 granules are enough.
Take a break (1-2 days), if negative consequences appear (dry skin, decreased activity, problems with stool), then the food is not suitable, look for another food.
If the first acquaintance with food went well, then you can continue the transition. Subtract 10% from your pet’s daily food intake; the resulting number is the amount of new food for the first day; it should be given separately from the main one. Increase the amount of new food by 8-10% every day.
Carefully read the instructions and composition of the product. If your dog has health problems (gastrointestinal diseases, previous castration, hypersensitivity of the stomach, excess weight), then consult a veterinarian before switching to Brit food.
