Pembroke Welsh Corgi
The height of a Pembroke female is from 25 to 27 cm, and that of a male is from 27 to 30 cm.
Pembroke weight: 11-12 kg
Color, Pembroke: red, sable, purple, fawn, orange, black, possible inclusions of white on the paws, chest and neck. The coat itself is of medium length with a dense undercoat.
Welsh Corgi Cardigan
The height of a Cardigan female is from 25.5 to 28 cm, and that of a male is from 27.5 to 31 cm.
Cardigan weight: 12-14 kg
Color, cardigan: any color is possible, including marble, inclusions of white more extensive than in Pembroke are allowed. White cannot be the dominant color. The coat is short or medium length with a dense, waterproof undercoat.
Additional characteristics: the breed is characterized by a low waist and an elongated torso. The muzzle resembles a fox.
What is the difference?
The Cardigan is larger in size, has large, rounded ears and a long, bushy, fox-like tail.
The Pembroke is smaller, the ears are more pointed, their tail used to be quite short according to the standard, but over time it became longer and slightly curled. In the 21st century, breeders began to make efforts to bring back the short tail naturally.
What is the character of a corgi?
Representatives of both breeds Meet Two Similar Yet Different Breeds: The Cardigan Welsh Corgi and the Pembroke Welsh Corgi are loyal companions and true friends. They enjoy spending time in the company of adults and children. At the same time, corgis are very smart and train well if you devote enough time to the process.
Nevertheless, there are differences in the characters. Pembrokes are very active, impulsive, energetic - sometimes even overly energetic - friendly and affectionate. They are much more sociable, ready to immediately plunge into any fun and follow a person into various adventures. These dogs will be happy to spend together 24 hours a day, no matter what they have to do all this time.
Cardigans are more restrained and calm. It is common for them to first assess a situation before taking part in it. Dogs of this breed are often less energetic, although they are ready to enthusiastically support a fun game. Cardigan Welsh Corgis are equally good at lying next to a person and going on long journeys with him.
